Alex and Vivia F. Hedquist papers, 1881-1965.

The Alex and Vivia F. Hedquist Collection deals with Provo politics and culture from the turn of the century until the death of Alex Hedquist in 1965. The collection covers a wide range of documents from newspapers, ledger books, Provo school curricula and diplomas, along with Provo business activities, primarily with the Hedquist Drugstore. The papers include newspaper clippings, printed matter and correspondence related to Hedquist Pharmacy (Provo, Utah); Farmers' and Merchants' Bank of Provo; and Walker Bank (Salt Lake City, Utah). Also includes some printed material related to Brigham Young University and Franklin Harris fromt the mid-20th century. Correspondence includes letters to Alex Hedquist assembled/signed by the Past Presidents of Provo Chamber of Commerce (2 March 1959). Hedquist Pharmacy materials include a scrapbook of drug prescriptions (1881 to turn of 20th century); much of comes from the predecessor of Hedquist Pharmacy which is Palace Drug, owned by R.S. Heinz. The prescriptions include various crude pharmaceuticals which were mixed and packaged by the pharmacy.
